This season, nine of our skaters earned the incredible opportunity to attend the Skater Development Camp in Kelowna. Most often referred to as “Kelowna Camp’ it is an exclusive, invite-only experience designed for athletes in STAR 4 and higher. Invitations are earned by achieving a specified score during the competitive season, making this a significant accomplishment for those selected. Of the nine invited, six of our skaters were able to attend this year’s camp.
Over the course of three action-packed days, skaters were immersed in exceptional coaching, working closely with National and Olympic-level coaches and industry experts. Each session was thoughtfully designed to help athletes refine their current skills while also introducing new techniques, encouraging growth in a supportive and high-performance environment.
Beyond the technical training, what makes this camp truly special is the sense of community it fosters. Skaters had the chance to connect with others from across the Province—many of whom they typically see only as competitors. Through shared experiences, they built friendships and developed a deeper appreciation for the sport.
One of the highlights of the camp was the unforgettable banquet. This year’s theme celebrated the iconic band Queen, and the energy in the room was nothing short of electric. Skaters embraced the theme with creative costumes and performed a dance they had learned during their dance sessions, showcasing both their confidence and creativity.
Camps like these play a vital role in the development of our skaters. They provide not only high-level training, but also the opportunity for athletes to rediscover their passion for skating. The combination of learning, connection, and fun often helps skaters fall in love with the sport all over again.
We are incredibly proud of our skaters for earning this opportunity and representing our club with enthusiasm and dedication. Experiences like the Skater Development Camp leave a lasting impact—both on the ice and in the hearts of those who attend.
