Job Description
Oak Bay Figure Skating Club (OBFSC) is currently seeking an enthusiastic and supportive Skate Canada Coach to join our coaching team. We are looking for a coach who values collaboration and is excited to contribute to all aspects of club programming and activities.
OBFSC has proudly operated for over 40 years and continues to grow with over 270+ skaters participating in CanSkate, STARSkate/Podium Pathway, Adult Learn to Skate, and Adult/Youth Synchro programs. Located in beautiful Victoria, BC, the club operates out of the Oak Bay Recreation Centre six days a week (Monday through Saturday), offering early morning, afternoon, and weekend sessions throughout the year.
We are proud to operate under a team coaching model that encourages collaboration and shared expertise. This approach has helped our skaters thrive and reach new competitive and technical heights. We are committed to helping skaters develop positive habits through regular physical activity while fostering teamwork, leadership, and community involvement. Many of our youth and teen skaters contribute as Program Assistants in our successful CanSkate program.
Our on-ice programming currently runs approximately 16 hours per week from September through June, and up to 22 hours per week during July and August.

Job Responsibilities

Coach across club programs including CanSkate, STARSkate, Podium Pathway, and off-ice programming

Teach off-ice programming (an asset)

Support skaters of various ages and skill levels in achieving their goals

Work collaboratively within our team coaching structure under the direction of the Director of Skating

Participate in club activities and contribute to a positive club environment

Assist in delivering high-quality skating programs throughout the season
Qualifications

Skate Canada Regional Certification (or in training toward certification)

Skate Canada Coach in Good Standing

Passion for coaching all levels of skating including CanSkate, STARSkate, Podium Pathway, and off-ice training

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Enthusiastic, professional, and supportive coaching approach
Work Schedule
Programming Schedule: Monday through Saturday
Season: September–June (16 hours/week) and July–August (up to 22 hours/week)
Session Times: Early mornings, afternoons, and weekends
